I just got my Orly Pin-Up polishes. I skipped the green this time… yes, I know, most people consider it the star of this collection. After looking at the sparkly goodness of Bubbly Bombshell, though, I just may have to go back and pick it up. I have Misa Summer Love on my toes now, and one coat of Bubbly Bombshell really perked up the color. (I would post a pic, but I don’t think the internet realllly needs a pic of my feet… hmmm.)
I also got a set of 12 crushed shell powders. How I will use them in a mani, I’m not sure yet. But it was a set of Small and Colorful Things! So how could I resist…
As a tribute to the suddenly summery weather we’ve been having this week, I decided to try out my Fimo clay flower slices. It took me a little while to decide what to use as a base color- I didn’t want anything too colorful, so the flowers could stand out on their own, but flat white seemed just a little too boring. I finally decided on Orly Pure Porcelain from the Precious collection, which is a really pale beige (the color and consistency actually remind me of foundation, in a good way- creamy and smooth, opaque in three thin coats).
I waited until the polish was about 90% dry, and attached the Fimo slices with just a dab of clear polish. Some people use nail glue, but I think that just makes removal a pain. The flower petals do need to be lightly pressed down, but since the clay is slightly rubbery, it will conform and curve to your nail shape.
I almost didn’t apply topcoat- I kind of liked the matteness of the clay against the gloss of Pure Porcelain- but in the end I swiped it on in hopes of making my manicure last an extra day.
FINALLY… I have in my greedy little hands some of the colors from the Chanel Summer 2011 collection, plus an unexpected (but huge) bonus purchase… Chanel Blue Wish!
Glossimers Pink Peony (267) Pensee (277) and Aurore (287) are all beautiful, shimmery colors that look like they will provide sheer color with a lot of sparkle.
I am also happy to report that Morning Rose (557) looks so much prettier than I had expected. It is just so full of pale gold micro-shimmer and glimmer- I hope that translates onto the nail!
From what I can tell, I think Blue Wish (387) is going to work best as a topcoat. In the bottle, it is a a shade grey of periwinkle. The shimmer is mostly silver with a just a sprinkling of sapphire-blue (which, as I turn the bottle in the sunlight, seems to reflect teal). I was really surprised to find that I was able to order it online, since (as far as I know) this was LE in 2009, sold exclusively for their Tokyo store launch.
This order definitely did not disappoint! ^^
